Huifeng Electronics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. was established in 1996 under the name Xianyang Huifeng Electronics Co., Ltd., with its registered address in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. In 2001, the company participated in the localization and import substitution project for all imported resistors used in HVDC converter valves of XD Xi’an Power System Co., Ltd. (formerly Xi’an Rectifier Plant) under XD Group. With the support of Xi’an Power System Co., Ltd., the company also drafted the complete set of technical standards for resistors related to HVDC converter valves. In 2003, the company completed the R&D, trial production, various type tests and overseas tests of all products. In 2004, the products passed the new product appraisal of Shaanxi Province. In 2005, the company was awarded the National Key New Product Award and received supporting funding. It was approved as a High-Tech Enterprise of Shaanxi Province in 2006 and obtained funding support from the Innovation Fund for Small and Medium-sized Technology-Based Enterprises of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2008. During this period, the company successfully supplied products for a series of key projects, including the localization pilot project of the Lingbao Back-to-Back HVDC converter valve, the Heihe Back-to-Back HVDC converter valve project, the Gaoling Back-to-Back Phase I converter valve localization verification project, damping resistors for the Huliao ±500 kV HVDC converter valve, and water-cooled resistors for the Jeju Island converter valve project in South Korea. With the advancement and development of HVDC to UHVDC transmission technology in China and its application in overseas projects, the company developed the miniaturized SSTR1000‑S stainless steel tubular high-power resistor and SSTR1000‑A single-electrode stainless steel tubular resistor to meet development needs. These products have been mass-applied in China’s ±800 kV, ±1100 kV and 6250A high-current UHVDC transmission projects, as well as overseas UHVDC projects including the Brazil Belo Monte ±800 kV project, Turkey project and Pakistan project as damping resistors for converter valves. Since 2001, the company has been the exclusive domestic supplier of damping resistors (for two circuit types) for HVDC and UHVDC converter valves in China. Over the past 20+ years, the cumulative production has exceeded 500,000 units, achieving a zero-failure record in engineering applications (with the longest service life exceeding 20 years). Meanwhile, the company has extended this technology and products to high-power high-end power electronic equipment such as high-power frequency conversion, energy-saving SVC static compensation and de-icing devices. It has further extended and integrated the technologies of the SSTR1000‑S high-power stainless steel tubular resistor and LCR2000 series for applications in marine and other fields, forming a serialized product portfolio including the HJDR‑75, HJDR‑120 integrated water-cooled braking resistors, 712ZDR‑22 water-cooled braking resistor, ZDR‑W2 series water-cooled braking resistors and water-cooled load resistors, which have been widely praised by customers. In 2021, to support its development, the company relocated entirely from Xianyang, Shaanxi Province to Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and was renamed Huifeng Electronics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd.
